2018 Welcome Week Schedule

Dear Class of 2022,

I am thrilled to welcome you to the Rhodes adventure. My decision to join Rhodes College last year as the 20th President was similar to the process each of you engaged in as you chose a college. I came here because I believed that Rhodes could be become my home, that I could be challenged here to become my very best self, and that I could make a difference- an essential difference- on our campus and our Memphis community. These are the things I wish for you as well.

You are fortunate to be joining a lively community of creative and critical thinkers. Your Rhodes education will prepare you to lead in your career and your community. I encourage you to leap in and take some risks – study something new, make a friend who has a background different from yours, join a club that focuses on something you have never done before. Take advantage of the opportunities Rhodes offers you to stretch and grow.

Please drop by my office to introduce yourself at some point this semester. I am eager to see what you bring to Rhodes as individuals. And I am also looking forward to seeing the ways that the Class of 2022 makes its collective mark.
